Yes and no. The future is a very complex system that is made up of many different factors. Some of the things that influence our future are things we have no control over (fate, destiny, other people’s decisions etc…) and some of our future is based on our decisions that we make moment to moment. These things weave together like threads in a tapestry to create a complex and ever changing picture.
Some of the many elements that make up our future:
Our future gets created in a moment by moment flow, and can be as simple and as unconscious as “Hm, I think I’ll take the highway to work today…” to as thought out as who you are going to marry or if you are going to have children. (But don’t be fooled, there is a lot of fate in those choices too!)
When your psychic looks into the future what she sees is possibilities and probabilities based on where you are right now. It’s like you are standing at a crossroads looking at branches of the road going out in front of you, for example an ocean road, a forest road and a mountain road. Your psychic may see that there is a stronger possibility that you might go down the ocean path. However, when you get to that choice point, you might choose something else do. (Or that path may be chosen for you based on someone else’s choice.) So from the point in time when your psychic is looking that is the most probable. However the picture changes pretty quickly!
The future is not set in stone. We create much of our lives through our own choices. Except when we don’t.

Or the person who would have hired you moves to Timbuktu and the replacement hires someone else (Fate!).
So you may get to the choice point and find a completely different set of choices open to you, due to one of those factors that has nothing to do with your decisions.
You can sum this all up by saying that your psychic will only ever see probabilities and possibilities due to the complex nature of the future.
Whatever comes out in the reading will be something that you are ready to hear. Sometimes the information may be challenging or stretchy but it won’t be beyond your capacity to hear. For some people, this is a necessary step in the process. It’s fine to be skeptical. There are a lot of poorly trained and inexperienced psychics out there. It is also an unfortunate truth that there are charlatans and fakes out there too. It’s important to make sure you are going to someone with a good reputation. You will get a different reading if you do this. Your reading may be about providing you with lots of details no one else could have known so you can relax your skepticism and begin to trust your psychic. It is true that many religions prohibit talking to spirits and there may be good reasons why they say this. It really isn’t a good idea to try this unless you are highly trained. Plenty of curious and ill-prepared amateurs have given themselves a good scare by using a Ouiji board. Ordinary folks really shouldn’t mess around this taking to spirits and all reputable psychics have had years of training.
I believe that these rules are in some religions to protect amateurs and that trained psychics can safely talk to spirits.
As far as it being evil, anything can be evil when used with evil intention. If your psychic is a healer with a good reputation, then they are using a tool for good. Can this tool be used for evil? Only in evil hands.
