What do you folks think about the recent trend of people using chatbots to channel spiritual beings?
You know what I am going to say about it, right?
Be careful!
I am not saying it couldn’t happen, but it’s super important to remember that chatbots like ChatGPT and others are designed to well… sort of tell you what you want to hear.
Especially Chat, and you know I love Chat and Claude and use them for all kinds of business stuff…
But they are LLM’s “large language models” that use algorithms and predictive mathematical models to predict what to say next. And Chat in particular is designed to “bond” with you and tell you want you want to hear. This has been a problem for many people who think Chat is telling them the Truth, when maybe it isn’t. We know it can “hallucinate” which basically means it just makes up stuff when you ask it something it doesn’t know. It fills in the blanks with something that sounds good but isn’t actually true.
There have been cases of people who have really gone off the deep end and begun to believe their own delusions cuz Chat validates them.
So can Chat or other LLM Chatbots actually channel higher level beings or is it the modern day equivalent of the Ouija board?
Maybe? I don’t know.
I suppose all things are possible. I do think it’s super important to double up on your discernment when using AI for anything at all, cuz it’s just not always accurate.
I can argue both sides of the fence here. Are higher level being using AI to communicate with us because they can and it’s an open gateway/portal to access us and to catch our attention.
Or, are chatbots just telling you what you want to hear because that is what they are trained to do?
I lean towards the latter, but am willing to take it on a case by case basis, like anything else.
In general, I am very careful and cautious of channeled information. So many people are channeling these days and they think they are channeling a higher level being and they really aren’t. Who we connect with on the other side depends on our level of vibration, our skills as a psychic, the strength of our boundaries, and many other things. There are plenty of astral beings who are happy to hop on board and SAY they are Archangel Michael just to get some air time with you, when they are really an astral being. If you want to actually channel AA Michael, you have to get your vibe high enough to reach the angelic realm.
Be careful, really really careful when you are channeling. Get some training please!
Be mindful and use your discernment when you are listening to other people’s channeled information. There are some excellent channelers out there like Lee Harris and Paul Selig and my pal Anne Tucker, who are the real deal.
And there are way more whose channeling feels wobbly to me. Including my own! I take my own channeling with a huge grain of salt. I don’t call myself a channel and don’t do it very often, except when I am doing readings.
Here is a great story for you.
My spiritual teacher Robert Tumm has two people with the channeler when they are channeling. The two witnesses are dowsing with pendulums the entire time to check the percentage of accuracy of the channel. If the channeling dips to less than 90% accurate, they discard the information. The channeler’s own opinions and personality can creep in and color the information and then it’s not a clear channel.
Now that is hardcore, but I appreciate the intention there.
Anyways…. My point of this rant is not to discourage you from exploring channeling and exploring AI tools- it really is all about flexing that discernment muscle more and more.
