Good Luck Runners

Wow rough weather for the Boston Marathon runners today. (Or maybe it’s better than very hot? You never know what you are going to get in April in New England…) I am not in my office today, since the Marathon starts in Hopkinton MA and my office is on the route. Can’t get within 5 miles of my office today!

It’s still a little touchy for us. We remember the Marathon bombing. Most of us know someone who was there, or we were ourselves there. Or we were locked down as they searched for the suspects. We remember. And we remember 9/11 too. Two of the planes came from Boston. It’s a touchy subject here and has created the real Boston Strong feeling, which is more than just a tee shirt or a bumpah stickah.

We have been through a lot. (Starting with throwing some tea into a harbor, ok?) And we are a prideful and tough group. We close ranks and protect each other. (Unless you take someone’s dug out parking space in a snowstorm, and then it’s every person for themselves….)

We run towards trouble and other people who need us – that is what the Marathon bombings taught us about ourselves.

So we are a little bit hunkered down, on this raining and cold Patriot’s Day, only slightly watchful, moderately hyper vigilant and yet also full of faith, because that is what Boston Strong really means.

Good luck to those running today and those supporting.
