I Love that There is a Whole Holiday about Love

I love that there is a whole holiday about love

The sappy, Hallmark sentiments aside, we need more love in the world.

I used to find V-Day to be a sad disappointment full of unmet expectations and everyone else clearly having a better romantic connection than I was. (or any romantic connection at all…)

I found Valentine’s Day liberation many years ago when I decided to dedicate the day to deeply loving and acknowledging myself and love in general.

Love is the strongest force in the Universe. It’s what drives everything, it is the energy in between the atoms and the light, the divine spark inside all of us.

The entire universe is an expression of this energy and yet there is an awful lot of not-love around too. It’s easy to feel diminished, tarnished and broken hearted by all the not-love around.

But how are we to know love, unless we have also experienced all the many forms of not-love?

Today, I choose to focus on all the love that is around me. And there is so very much. When I dial into that frequency, I feel it all around me. It’s in the trees and the snow as I walk my dog in the woods.

It’s in the heart of the stranger that I pass on the street and in the light of the sun as it warms my face. Such an abundance of love!

This world, these people are the biggest Valentine’s Day gift ever. Go out and spread some love around today, ok? Smile at strangers, tell all your people how much you love them. And say I love you to yourself until you know you really mean it.

Hey You!
