The other day I did a Soul Reading Salon at Marissa Fanelli’s gorgeous space Healing Point Therapeutics in Sudbury MA. First of all, her space is amazing and so is she, so drop in and check it out sometime. It was the first time I tried doing a Soul Reading Salon and it was really powerful and fun too.
It’s always a little edgy trying something new so I was standing there in front of a room full of people wondering whether or not I would be able to answer everyone’s questions. The idea had been kicking around in my mind for a while about doing group readings where everyone gets to ask a question in front of the group. I thought it would be very interesting for everyone else to witness someone else’s question and also the answers that they received.
You know how when you are in a group someone else in the group always has your issue (or close enough) and when they ask about it, you benefit too? I was excited about the possibilities of that happening and everyone being enriched by the experience. I feel like these group connections can makes friends out of strangers and help to create compassion and connection in our community.
I am not sure how to explain how that all works for me, but I love the question and answer format, since when someone has a genuine and pressing need to know something, the information flows through me. It’s like a push in the back of my head and then if I follow the thread, a lot of information come out. It feels a bit like what I imagine the simultaneous translators do, it comes into my head and out my mouth in the next instant. I have head to learn to trust that it will be ok and usually it is.
Mostly I feel humbled and deeply enjoy the opportunities to serve. I often feel heartbroken by the pain and suffering we all endure. And I marvel and the strength and beauty of the human spirit. Somehow in all the bittersweet messiness of life, there is a wonderful poetry, a cosmic sense of humor to the pattern of our lives and our soul’s unfolding.
