Feeling Very Tender Hearted Today

Feeling Tender Hearted

All week long in my healing practice, I have been helping people deal with hardship and loss. It makes it all so much more painful when these things happen around the holidays. They are bad enough as it is, but to lose some during the holiday season adds more pain to the already painful.

I think it’s because we all need and want so badly to love and be loved. We yearn for connection and belonging. To tribe up, to be seen, heard and appreciated by our tribe and to be loved. We long to have our love received in return.

And we want all our efforts to mean something significant, to make a difference in the hearts of our people and in the world in general.

How then do we handle chaos, breakdown and loss?

The gap between what we need and want (the loving, heart connected tribe joined together with peace and purpose) and what we actually have (an episode from the Simpson’s family Christmas special…) is soooo painful. It is that gap that I have been working in all week.

How can we bridge the gap?

It’s a work in process. For many, it’s about accepting what is and putting our attention on the sweet moments while trying to be Zen about our personal family dysfunctions.

Or maybe it’s about doing the inner work so that we can forgive, grieve and move on.

Perhaps we need to create our own tribes, our families of choice to fall back on when our bio families can’t show up the way we need and want them to.

However it is for you, I hope you find your peace, open your heart and allow each blessed moment to be a salve for your soul.

PS- And if all else fails, spike the punch or put some edibles in everyone’s stockings.
